Baby food - broccoli puree

Baby food broccoli puree is a great first weaning food. Vegetables should be Introduced on their own before other foods in the first week. So little ones can get used to these bitter flavours before introducing sweeter types of vegetables.

This blog will share the full recipe details and a video on exactly how to make it.

Is broccoli a good first food for babies?

A good vegetable to start with is broccoli in a puree or as finger food. Broccoli is high in vitamin C, K, iron and even some calcium. So it contains important nutrients to supplement your babies diet.

How to serve broccoli to babies

If using broccoli as a finger food then you can follow this recipe until the broccoli is cooked and use the florets rather than pureeing them.

A good way to check they are soft enough is to use the squish test, whereby it should easily break up when squished between the fingers. This is particularly important for first stage weaning so they break up more easily in the mouth to begin with and your baby can easily swallow it.
