How healthy are roasted chickpeas?
Chickpeas are a legume and count as a vegetable. They are a great source of protein and fibre so make a filling snack or part of a meal. They also contain some iron, phosphorus and folic acid.
What is the healthiest way to cook chickpeas?
Chickpeas straight from a can dont need to be cooked, such as the ones in this recipe. However for this recipe, roasting them in a little olive oil is the healthiest way to make them crisper.
What to add to a can of chickpeas
If you prefer there are other ingredients you can swap out and add to the can of chickpeas which are just as tasty. For example other flavours that work well include: paprika, curry powder, dried herbs like rosemary, or just salt and pepper. Although if kids are going to eat them then salt is best avoided.
How do I serve vegan roasted chickpeas?
You can serve them on their own as a snack or you could add them to a dip. They are also great added into a sandwich or a salad.
